Where sustainability meets affordable - or at least fair - prices, is something I’m passionate about. I believe there will be a trend over the coming years for something I’m calling “sustainable basics.” Products that are are non-toxic, have clean ingredients and meet high standards, but don’t break the bank.
Much of the time, the labels “sustainably made” and “ethically sourced” come with higher price tags. And there’s nothing inherently wrong with that. In fact, in most cases these higher prices are 100% justified, as these brands are going above and beyond to pay their workers fairly, source sustainable products, give back and support their communities.
For those of us who wish to start shopping more consciously but are on a tighter (or should I say realistic) budget, we’ve just launched a new collection called “OtterList Picks” that will highlight the products that are more attainable. Of course, we’ll still include the premium brands on OtterList for those who can afford them.
I challenge you to find something in your home that you can replace with something in this collection. Every purchase makes a huge difference in these early stages of OtterList. Not only does it support our growth, but it also shows other brands that we have an audience of people who care about what they buy.
And remember, every dollar spent with a small business, is a dollar kept in our communities and not willingly given to a multi-billion dollar corporation.
